During Wednesday’s instalment of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Naughty Boy and actor Adam Woodyatt clashed over chores they were supposed to be doing together. As EastEnders star Adam became irritated over Naughty Boy sleeping rather than cleaning, Emmerdale’s Danny Miller instructed him to “take a different approach” with the 40-year-old. Responding to this, fans of the show have taken to social media to challenge the actor’s advice, pointing out the DJ is “a grown man”.
When Adam asked Danny if he thought he was being too harsh by making digs at Naughty Boy for sleeping while he was meant to be helping Adam with cleaning duties, Danny suggested he take a different approach.
Speaking in the Telegraph, he commented: “You know, I think there’s a way of approaching Naughty Boy, and I think Adam just dealt with it wrong.
“I feel like I need to let Adam know how to handle Naughty Boy.”
Adam asked the 30-year-old: “Am I being too hard thinking Naughty should be working as hard as me?”
“Um, do you want me to be honest with you?” the actor asked.
“Yeah,” replied the Ian Beale star after clashing with Naughty Boy.
Danny explained: “I think with Naughty Boy, I’ve been guilty of it as well, I think he just needs an arm around him.
“I think he’s a very sensitive, spiritual soul – I think he just needs… I tried my best to take the Arlene [Phillips] approach and look after him a bit more.
“I don’t want him to think he’s not part of the group and I think he feels sometimes… he sits back as if he’s not part of the group.
“He just kind of shrivels up and goes into a shell.”
“I just don’t want to keep nagging him,” Adam admitted. “It’s quicker to do it myself.”
Danny responded: “Yeah, I get that but I think he could do with an arm around him and to say ‘not long now mate’.”
Many viewers tuning in at home disagreed with the soap star, though.
Twitter user Grianne Doherty wrote: “‘There’s a way to talk to Naughty Boy and I think Adam just handed it wrong.
“‘So I’m gona talk to Adam, let him know how to talk to him’. Really Danny? #ImACeleb.”
Shaun Hudson echoed this argument, commenting: “#ImACeleb Adam was REALLY mature to Naughty Boy, and Danny was well off the mark.
“Adult in a room with kids mate.”
Lancastrian Andaluza penned: “Son is complaining at Danny’s chat with Adam about Naughty Boy needing support is BORING because ‘he has just stopped all the beef, all the entertainment’ #ImACeleb.”
Jadee disagreed, however, writing: “I can’t hate naughty boy and I love the fact Danny knows him, naughty’s face makes me want to cry #ImACeleb.”
Emily fumed: “Not Danny buying into Naughty Boy’s s***.
“He’s not a delicate flower Danny #ImACeleb.”
“Admire Danny’s approach but why pander to and tiptoe around another grown man when he’s not doing his part, Ok naughty boy is sensitive & you can be understanding of that, but he’s put himself in there?
“And he’s so argumentative #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity #ImACelebrityGetMeOutOfHere,” Laura Gabell shared. (sic)
