Good Morning Britain viewers were not happy and criticised ITV for debating the shocking revelations from Omid Scobie's new book, Endgame.
The show's hosts, Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley discussed the explosive claims from the book about the Royal Family.
The book was recently pulled from shelves in Holland as it seemed to reveal the identity of a "royal racist". In 2021, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accused an unnamed senior Royal of expressing concern over their child's skin colour in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Now, it seems the name has been leaked after a review copy of the book sent to Dutch journalists appeared to contain the identity of the alleged Royal.
The first hour of Good Morning Britain focused on reactions to this Royal drama, with Dutch journalist Rick Evers, who shared a screenshot of the extract revealing the royal's name, joining via video link.
Rick seemed surprised by the attention his screenshot received, leading Richard to remind him that many people worldwide care about the British Royal family and jokingly warned Rick against making fun of the monarchy.
Rick also revealed to Susanna and Richard that a second name is alluded to in Scobie's bombshell book, with the presenters seemingly stunned to learn the Dutch translation could cause even more drama.
However, those watching at home were less than impressed. Taking to social media, Good Morning Britain viewers slammed the show and begged ITV bosses to change the subject.
"ITV and GMB show how out of touch they are if they think any of the general public give a single f*** about the royal family, we all have real issues to worry about. #gmb #GoodMorningBritain," one fumed as the coverage rolled on.
"They're obsessed with this book. #gmb," another declared, with a third adding: "All ITV have done this week is talk about Harry, Meghan and this sodding book, on every single ITV show. They can't help but talk sh** about Harry and Meghan, it's toxic #gmb #GoodMorningBritain #HarryandMeghan."
"Dear @gmb Nobody gives a Scoby Do about the latest royal fiasco. What about the #CovidInquiry or other non-jungle news in the real wotld? #gmb," another fumed. "#GMB How many books have been written about the Royal Family unfavourable. But anytime something is connected to Harry Meghan the whole media sensationalises so dramatic about the couple like the end of the world. #Endgame @ GMB," ranted another angry viewer.
Rick, the Dutch journalist who noticed the passage, shared on his X (formerly Twitter) profile: "NL (Netherlands) version 'Endgame' must be withdrawn from sale, says Dutch publisher at request of the US agent. A number of passages have sparked debate, may not have been accurately presented. This seems to concern also the accusation against XXX (name redacted), about Archie's skin colour ."
Providing an English translation of the Dutch copy of the book, he further tweeted: "This is – as far as I know – only regarding the Dutch version, not the English one. It seems as if only the Dutch version has published the person's name who spoke about the skin colour (sic)of the unborn child. XXX (NAME REDACTED)."
Buckingham Palace hasn't responded to requests for comment yet. Xander, the publishers of the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie's Endgame, have temporarily halted sales of the book due to what they call an "error".
They stated: "[We are] temporarily withdrawing the book by Omid Scobie from sale. An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified."
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX from 6am
