Jacqueline Jossa has somehow been through the mill both in the jungle and in her personal life back home, which was apparent as she received her care package from husband Dan Osborne during last night’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
The former EastEnders actress reportedly received a phone call from Dan in unaired scenes because Myles Stephenson allegedly told the 27-year-old that the father of her children had been cheating on her with the Rak-su singer’s ex Gabby Allen.
Jacqueline now has the added turmoil of being cut off from the world while taking in The X Factor winner’s allegations, so it’s no wonder she’s said to have ‘threatened to quit’.
Naturally, then, when Jacqueline received a message from Dan she didn’t seem as excited by her note from home as her campmates did by theirs’.
Body language expert Judi James explained to Metro.co.uk: ‘Jacqueline has been the most emotionally-incontinent campmate on the show so far, having regular meltdowns about the tasks and weeping over the pillow with her childrens’ photos on it.
‘She’s also been one of the most upbeat and funny too, and a potential winner of the jungle crown. The one thing Jacqueline hadn’t been was bland or impassive, right up until she received her letter from home.’
‘The contrast in her body language was obvious,’ Judi continued. ‘Especially as the other campmates were already sobbing freely over their own messages.
‘As her rather brief message was read out she sat slightly slumped, with her chin cupped by and resting heavily onto the heel of her hand. Her eyes were down in a reflective-looking gaze and her fingertips appeared to be pressed hard into her cheek. The cupped, resting chin pose is rarely associated with active, energetic interest and can signal boredom or disinterest.
‘However, there did appear to be some tears glistening in Jacqueline’s eyes, which as a combination would suggest mixed and possibly suppressed emotions. Given the rumours about her having to ring Dan during the week she might have been hoping for something more personal, meaningful and intimate from him rather than a few lines and a chocolate orange.
‘It could also have been possible that she didn’t want her kids to see her crying on TV, although her tears and distress at missing them have been a constant.’
‘Jacqueline became much more animated when she unwrapped the chocolate, chuckling with her eyes closed like a small, excited kid,’ added Judi.
‘Was her neutral pose an attempt to deflect the soap opera-style narrative that has circled her relationship with Dan? Perhaps she was hoping that by avoiding an emotional response she’d keep the story where it rightfully should be: on her. Or maybe it did signal some indifferent emotions. The moment she saw she was sharing camp with Gabby’s ex Myles she must have feared the worst in terms of headlines and focus so this could have been a damage-limitation exercise in terms of deflecting rather than re-stimulating interest in her and Dan’s relationship.’
Dan is currently on his way out to Australia to greet Jacqueline when she eventually leaves the jungle, which is looking increasingly likely to be during the final on December 8 as the public continue to back the actress more and more each day.
The father-of-three has stressed the rumours are completely false and has branded all speculation as ‘boring’.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
