Lewis Capaldi hires Adele and Beyonce's songwriter Ryan Tedder for 'difficult second album'

LEWIS CAPALDI is bringing out the big guns for his difficult second album.

After the success of his debut, I can reveal he has enlisted the help of superstar songwriter Ryan Tedder for the record, which is due out in the first half of 2022.

He has a stellar reputation for creating best-selling ballads, having written Halo for Beyonce, Rumour Has It for Adele and Bleeding Love for Leona Lewis.

But in a bid to match the huge reception to his first record, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, Lewis has also teamed up with his singer-songwriter pal JC Stewart again.

JC, who co-wrote the song Hollywood for Lewis’s last album, told me: “We’ve written a few songs in the last year or so. But first and foremost we’re mates, so we keep it there.”

Following its release in 2019, Lewis’s debut record spent 36 weeks in the Top Ten, including ten weeks at No1, and became the year’s best-selling album in the UK.

It also featured his two chart-topping singles, Someone You Loved and Before You Go.

Ryan reckons the new tunes will be giving people “goosebumps” all over again.

In an exclusive interview, OneRepublic frontman Ryan said: “I was playing the songs an hour ago in the car and it’s just like, goosebumps!

“The guy could sing a random song in Spanish and it would still give me goosebumps. He’s so good.”

As well as writing for Lewis, Ryan has got back to business with OneRepublic and said it is full-steam ahead following the release of album Human, their first in five years.

He said: “We’re just now finally restarting the engines there.

“I want to keep that going for at least ten years while we still enjoy touring the world.

“I also have some side- project stuff that I’m now a part of, so I’ll leave it at that.”

LIAM PAYNE was dropped by his management amid fears he was partying too much – but the past few days have shown he is not opting for nights in just yet.

Last week the One Direction singer flew halfway around the world for a 15-year-old’s birthday in Brazil, collecting a major paycheck in the process.

Now I can reveal he jumped straight on a plane to Texas to celebrate the birthday of his fiancée’s brother at their sprawling home.

Getting into the Texan spirit, Liam, who is engaged to model Maya Henry, dressed as a cowboy.

He wore snakeskin boots and matching belt before putting on a traditional cowboy hat and swigging beer from the bottle.

During the party, Liam showed off his moves by dancing to his own single Strip That Down – along with his partner’s family.

That tune might not go down well with most in-laws.

X FACTOR star Lucy Spraggan is thinking of calling off the rest of her UK tour after being forced to flee a concert amid ugly scenes.

The shocking incident, which she says left her traumatised, happened during her show at The Booking Hall in Dover, Kent, on Saturday night, with police being called as she fled the stage.

A source said: “A fight broke out at Lucy’s show. A group of people were talking during her concert and she called them out. They didn’t take too kindly to being told to shut up and started throwing abuse at Lucy.

“It then escalated when some of them tried to get to Lucy on stage. She and her keyboard player ran off stage and didn’t finish the show.

"The security attempted to break up the fight, which lasted a good ten minutes.”

The singer, who shot to fame on the ITV show in 2012, has shows scheduled for Oxford, London, Bournemouth, Wolverhampton and Sunderland over the next fortnight.

But Lucy is so shaken she is unsure whether to go ahead with them. One fan wrote on her Instagram after the concert: “I am absolutely appalled by that behaviour and I’m so sorry that you had to endure that.

“Please know there were so many of us who were there and enjoyed the show and respect you.”

After the two years we’ve had, I’d have thought people would appreciate the chance to see some live music.

But clearly some bozos are intent on ruining it for everyone.

PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ Carmit Bachar is just as angry as fans over all the reunion tour confusion.

Frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger is locked in a legal dispute with group founder Robin Antin and Carmit said she feels “disrespected” by the fact no more information has been given out.

Carmit has signed a non-disclosure agreement meaning she can’t say what’s happening.

But she wrote on Instagram: “I feel disrespected as well by the whole situation. I want this reunion to happen like you. Check with the people that are silent.”

Fellow member Kimberley Wyatt previously said she was told the tour is still on for September.

GOOD 4 U singer Olivia Rodrigo was all wrapped up in a dress with a green bow as she celebrated a brilliant year at Variety’s 2021 Music Hitmakers Brunch in LA.

She led an all-star line-up which included Billie Eilish, Avril Lavigne, Lana Del Rey and Lil Nas X.

Olivia put on a brave face after her ex-boyfriend Joshua Bassett, the subject of her No1 single Drivers License, opened up on the impact the song and reaction had on him.

He told GQ: “She hasn’t spoken to me since Drivers License came out.

“I would see TikToks with 50million views and 10million likes saying, ‘If I ever see that kid on the street, I’m going to f***ing kill him’.

“It’s hard to see that and then be living in New York and walking down the street.”

RYLAN CLARK has put himself on a party ban after a string of wild nights out following the breakdown of his marriage.

The Radio 2 host confessed to a fair few raucous evenings and said he is now making sure he is on his best behaviour.

It follows an incident at London club Heaven after a Steps gig last month.

During his Saturday slot, he explained: “I’m not allowed to go out no more, not after last weekend. I don’t remember the second half of the show but it was lovely.

“I’d had a couple of beverages. I ended up going out as well, which was terrible.”

Asked if he had embarrassed himself, he admitted: “I did and I’m quite lucky it didn’t end up anywhere.

"After Steps I somehow ended up – and I still don’t know how – on stage at Heaven, with a microphone in hand, dancing with Blu Hydrangea from Drag Race.

"It was a night and a half and I’m never going out again.”
