Love Island fans have taken to social media to poke fun at a PhotoShop fail in a new promotional picture of this year’s cast.
The new winter series kicks off on Monday, 16 January, with Maya Jama set to make her hosting debut on the popular ITV2 show.
After this year’s contestants were announced, a group shot of them all together was shared on Love Island’s official Twitter and Instagram pages – where eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot a “rookie” error.
One star in the photo is 22 year old Tanya Manhenga, who can be seen standing on a block as she strikes a pose and flashed a peace sign.
Upon zooming in on the image, however, there’s a second, faded image of Tanya’s hand just above her actual one.
Noticing this, one Twitter-user quipped that “someone’s getting fired” while circling the faux pas.
“is the hand supposed to be edited like that on the girl with yellow on,” asked someone else.
“Photoshop editing fail above the peace sign!!” added another, as someone else wrote: “They definitely got the intern to make the photoshop picture, rookie mistake.”
“her peace sign is flying away,” joked another.
While this season is full of new faces, there’s hopes of another former Love Island star returning to the show after Adam Collard’s bombshell comeback last year.
Sharing her hopes of who she’d like to return, host Maya said: “Theo! I found him hilarious. That line about 'leave with them' – it was that.
"We were all feeling it and Theo actually said it. You need that honesty sometimes!"
Theo Campbell starred on the third season of Love Island and was coupled up with Tyla Carr.
After the show, he went on to date season four star Kaz Crossley. While they were together Theo suffered a horror injury in Ibiza, leaving him partially blind after a champagne cork flew into his eye.
Ahead of her hosting debut, the 28 year old has been branded as being perfect for the role.
A source who spoke to OK! said that despite Maya’s hopes to bring her own style and tone to the role, she does share similarities with late Caroline Flack’s much-loved presenting style.
Caroline hosted the show for five series before stepping down in 2020 to be replaced, at the time the hope was temporarily, by Laura Whitmore. After Caroline's tragic death in February 2020, Laura remained in the role.
The source explained: “She’s quite similar to Caroline in the sense that she hasn’t had the most smooth-sailing love life. She’s very warm and relatable. She wants to be on the girls’ level and support them, as she’s gone through heartache.
“She’ll be really sensitive with them all. That’s part of the reason why bosses wanted her. She’s proven she’s a very good presenter. She’s very likeable.”
Maya dated rapper Stormzy between 2015 and 2019, before going on to get engaged to basketball star Ben Simmons.
The pair called off their engagement after eight months, in August last year.
