Mel B and sister Danielle ‘closer than ever’ as they open up on 10-year feud

Mel B, real name Melanie Brown, joined her sister Danielle on This Morning on Wednesday to discuss their heartwarming reconciliation.

The sisters marked their first joint TV interview to discuss their 10-year feud, amid Mel’s marriage to ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.

In December, the Spice Girls star released her new autobiography 'Brutally Honest', and spoke about being a victim of "domestic violence, mental abuse and almost torture”.

Mel has often spoken out over her "coercive" and "abusive" relationship with Stephen two years on from their split, while he continues to deny her claims about their marriage.

On Wednesday, Mel opened up on her rift with her family including her mum and her sister Danielle.

Mel claimed it was a “battle” being out of touch with her family, that she regularly tried to face but couldn’t, claiming her former husband was behind much of the messages sent to her mum and sister telling them she didn’t want them in her life – something he has denied.

Now, Mel and her loved ones are working on their relationship, with Danielle saying they were “closer than ever” giving her sister her full support.

They’re now in the process of “healing”, while sharing their regrets to have missed so much time with each other.

Danielle said: “It’s up and down, it is a rollercoaster… a 10-year gap of no contact at all.

“A lot has been said and done and a lot has happened in 10 years, but we’re good, it’s a healing process. We’re probably closer now because of it.”

Mel admitted she was “angry” at having missed out on so much, as she looked forward to the arrival of pregnant sister Danielle’s new baby soon.

She told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I did get angry about that, a lot of time has been lost and now it’s time to do catch up and make up right now, but we just talk about it.

“Working with Women's Aid, you realise how much it happens to other people and how much we can help and educate and start talking about it.”

This Morning airs weekdays and Sundays at 10:30am on ITV.
