Move over Regé-Jean – meet the new Bridgerton singletons hoping to fill his shoes

As Bridgerton burst onto our screens on Christmas Day 2020, it was a winning mix of soapy drama, sexcapades and thrilling stories. And the man at the heart of it was Regé-Jean Page who thrilled us as the Duke romanced Daphne (played by Phoebe Dynevor, daughter of Coronation Street star Sally who was also a popular contestant on 2022's Dancing On Ice).

But there's no need to panic as we get close to the arrival of Season Two. There will be plenty of thirst trap moments from the new guys on the marriage market.

Here are the new male cast members ready and willing to deliver for us…

Rupert Young

Rupert plays Lord Jack Featherington

This new character is being kept under wraps until the show airs – and doesn’t even feature in the original books.

But what we do know is that he’s the heir apparent after the death of Lord Archibald Featherington. He will be joining the fun and games at the marriage market and making his mark on the Ton (as the swanky Regency elite are known).

Rupert’s biggest TV role was Sir Leon in Merlin.

Calam Lynch

Calam plays Theo Sharpe

Irish actor Calam plays a handsome young printer’s assistant, who is a working class lad with a revolutionary spirit and buddies up with Eloise.

Calam promises “S2 is sick”.

He most recently starred in the film Black Beauty (available on Disney+) and opposite Ruth Wilson in BBC One drama Mrs Wilson (available on Netflix).

Rupert Evans

Rupert plays Edmund Bridgerton

Charmed star Rupert will play Edmund Bridgerton, father to the eight Bridgerton children. Yes, he was dead in the first season, so it’s likely that he’ll feature in flashback scenes as his eldest son Anthony continues his search for a wife.

He's not new to the cast, but Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey has prepared for ‘stepping into the shoes' of Regé-Jean Page.

With the Duke gone, Jonathan Bailey is taking centre stage as the Viscount on the hunt for a wife.

We last saw him with a broken heart, and now he’s taking a more cold-hearted view on the marriage mart. He sets his sights on Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) but finds himself drawn to her elder sister Kate (Sex Education’s Simone Ashley).

Jonathan’s character will dominate the second season which is based on the second Bridgerton book by Julia Quinn, The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Jonathan is excited about his plots in the second season, and says:

“Stepping into the shoes that Phoebe Dynevor [who returns as Daphne] and Regé-Jean Page wore and led with so gracefully last season has taught me a lot. Taking on that responsibility has been amazing for so many reasons.

"This season required a lot of staying calm and steady and ready. It’s kept me on my toes. I got really fit, I made sure to eat well and get loads of sleep, and everything else just seemed to fall into place.”

“At the end of Season One, we see Anthony defeated and lost. Now he’s really honed in on his decision to find a wife. He’s going to make sure that love plays no part, because he’s seen how distressing losing his father was for his mother. And he’s got a new haircut, and has shaved off his chops.”

Bridgerton Season 2 begins on Netflix on Friday 25th March
