Naomi Campbell, 50, is 'expected to return to work within weeks' after welcoming her baby daughter

NAOMI Campbell is expected to return to work within weeks after becoming a mum at 50.

The supermodel is thought to have a spate of exciting work projects coming up and her maternity leave could be over after just "two or three weeks" with her baby girl.

"She’s an incredibly hard working person who won’t want to completely take her foot off the pedal," a source told the Mirror.

Naomi runs her YouTube channel and is also instrumental in her charity event Fashion For Relief.

Naomi will be hosting this year’s Fashion for Relief charity runway in London on Saturday 11th September.

"She’ll probably be active within the next few weeks, with some visibility somewhere," the source continued.

"But she’s focused on enjoying this moment and has been telling friends how sweet her new daughter is.

"She isn’t making any commitments, as she will want to cherish this precious time.

"But knowing Naomi, she will have lots of exciting plans up her sleeve."

The Sun has contacted Naomi's representative for comment.

The supermodel surprised the world earlier this week when she revealed she was a mum with a sweet Instagram picture of her cradling her baby.

It has since come to light that Naomi has been living with her secret boyfriend in America, and friends of the star believe she used a surrogate to become a first time mum.

In February Naomi alluded to her baby, telling i-D: "2021 is going to be a great year, we've just got a few more bumps to get through first. I believe that this is going to be an amazing year. Actually, I don't just believe it will be – I feel it will be."

While she expressed her desire to be a mother in an interview with the Evening Standard in 2017.

She said: "I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want."

The supermodel announced her newborn daughter by writing: “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother.

“So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”

She tagged her mum Valerie Morris-Campbell in the post but didn't reveal any other details.

Prior to the news, Naomi was last pictured on the runway for Michael Kors in April this year.

Designer Marc Jacobs was among the stars congratulating her.

He wrote in the comments: "Oh my God!!!!! Today is the day?? How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful Mother you will be. Blessings all around."

Rita Ora said: “No one deserves this more”, as Jamie Winstone wrote: “Wow congratulations Naomi. BIG, BIG LOVE, wow you're a Mama.”

Vogue editor Edward Enninful hinted he had already met the little one as he remarked: “Seeing the two of you together made my year. You will bring each other so much joy @naomi.”

In 2019 she said she wasn't ready to become a mum, saying:  "Not yet—I’ll see what the universe brings me."

At that time Naomi had been secretly dating pop star Liam Payne.

The couple enjoyed a romance for two months before ending their relationship in April.

Prior to that The Sun revealed how Naomi was secretly dating rapper Skepta.

Naomi has also been engaged twice but never married.

In 1993, U2 bassist Adam Clayton popped the question – just months after he started dating the supermodel.

Their first date came after Adam was asked if there was anything in the world he desired but did not have, in an interview, and responded: "A date with Naomi Campbell."

The couple split a year later – and Naomi got engaged to Formula One racing chief Flavio Briatore in 1998.

They had an on-off relationship until 2003.

Naomi – who says she eats just one meal a day – is one of the world's five original supermodels and has been in the industry for over 30 years.

During her career, Naomi has graced the covers of more than 500 magazines.

She was the first black model to appear on the covers of TIME magazine, French Vogue and Russian Vogue – as well as the first British black model on the front page of British Vogue.
