In 1991, Only Fools and Horses fans met the latest addition to the Trotter family.

Although baby Trotter was going to be called either Sigourney or "Rodney after Dave" as Trigger told pub landlord Mike, 1991 saw the birth of baby Damian Trotter.

Damian Trotter was born in the episode Three Men, A Woman And A Baby, to proud parents Del Boy Trotter and Raquel Turner.

Since then, a number of actors have played him throughout the series and in Christmas specials of Only Fools and Horses, with many fans wondering what happened to the actors who played Damian Trotter.

1991-1996 – Patrick McManus, Robert Liddement and Jamie Smith

Damian Trotter was played by a number of actors between 1991 and 1996, and to date, it is their only known acting roles.

Patrick McManus was the first actor to play Damian Trotter in Only Fools and Horses in the 1991 episode Three Men, A Woman And A Baby, at the end of series seven.

In 1992, Damian Trotter was played by Robert Liddement for the episode Mother Nature's Son.

From 1993 to 1996, Jamie Smith played a young Damian Trotter in episodes of Only Fools and Horses including Heroes and Villains, Modern Men and Time On Our Hands.

1996 – Douglas Hodge

When the series ended in 1996, Damian Trotter returned for three Only Fools and Horses Christmas specials in the same year, including Heroes and Villains.

The hour-long Christmas special featured the iconic scene where Del Boy and Rodney run through the streets of London dressed as Batman and Robin, after the Robin Reliant van breaks down.

Douglas Hodge appeared as adult Damian in the futuristic opening to the Christmas special, set on November 2, 2026.

It is then revealed that the sequence is part of a dream that Rodney is having before Del-boy wakes him up, returning the story back to 1996, where young Damian is played by Jamie Smith.

Since appearing as adult Damian in the Christmas special, Hodge has starred in television programmes including The Great, Death in Paradise and most recently, Lost in Space.

He has also appeared in Hollywood films including Gemini Man and as Alfred in the 2019 film Joker.

2001-2003 – Ben Smith

When Only Fools and Horses returned for a number of specials in the early noughties, the role of a young Damian was played by Ben Smith.

From 2001 to 2003, Ben Smith played Damian Trotter in the Only Fools and Horses Christmas specials If They Could See Us Now, Strangers on the Shore, and Sleepless in Peckham.

The Christmas specials saw the Trotters return after becoming bankrupt, with episodes such as If They Could See Us Now featuring Del Boy appearing on a game show to try and win his fortune back.
