Only Fools and Horses: David Jason talks chandelier scene

The legendary Sir David Jason is set to return to TV screens in a surprise special for Only Fools And Horses 20 years after his last episode.

Later this month, the 83-year-old will reportedly be fronting a new Channel 5 documentary about the iconic BBC sitcom alongside some of the show’s other beloved actors.

The star, who famously played Del Boy Trotter on the BBC comedy series from 1981 to 2003, will reportedly be joined by Tessa Peake Jones, who played Raquel, to reminisce about life on set and spill some behind-the-scenes secrets.

Fans Theo Paphitis and Krishnan Guru-Murthy will recall some of the best moments of the show. “It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Trotters, so this is a great way for viewers to get their Only Fools fix,” a source told The Sun.

“Producers were delighted when David was passed fit to appear following his surgery, so the special will be cushty for fans.” Express.co.uk has contacted Channel 5 for comment.

Only Fools and Horses last aired on UK screens back in 2003 for a special Christmas episode and has had 18 festive specials throughout its time.

Sir David’s participation in the show will be one of his first TV appearances since he underwent hip surgery earlier this year.

He appeared on Lorraine last month and revealed that his “bionic” hip is “wonderful” after the Only Fools and Horses convention was postponed to next January following his health issue.

Lorraine asked: “How are you feeling because you had your hip operation? We saw the video that went viral when you threw your crutches, are you OK? Are you on the mend?”

Sir David, who confirmed his surgery had been successful, told Lorraine: “I am on the mend. I am fine. I’m having a little trouble getting the muscles back because I was so infirm for two to three weeks as it were.

“I wasn’t using the legs at all, that’s where I am at now, getting it back, doing some exercises. But the hip itself is wonderful,” he added.

Just days before his appearance, the actor shared his health update with his fans on social media by posting a video of him chucking away his crutches and waking towards to the theme tune of Rocky.
