Capital FM star Sonny Jay is enjoying the training that is underway for Dancing On Ice – and is hoping to get even fitter in the process.
Ahead of the show's launch next Sunday, the radio presenter revealed he has hired a personal trainer to help him to tailor his workouts for maximum results.
The 27-year-old, whose full name is Sonny Jay Muharrem, admitted the ITV series was a "good opportunity" for a body bootcamp.
He said: "I really want to get fit. I've already started working with a personal trainer.
"Only because I firstly want to go out every week feeling comfortable and confident. I think if you do feel like that you'll really perform well."
Sonny added: "And this is a good opportunity to get fit. I'm hoping I'll come out of the show in the best shape I've ever been in. That's the goal."
The radio personality previously rose to fame as a member of Loveable Rogues, who battled and came sixth during the 2012 series of Britain's Got Talent.
Nearly nine years later and Sonny's competitive spirit remains, as the Londoner has the Dancing On Ice trophy in his sights.
He explained: "I didn't realise how competitive I am until I got confirmed for this show and now I want to win it! I don't think you should ever come onto a show like this and not want to win it.
"I really want to take it seriously, learn a skill and just do well enough that hopefully people want to see more each week."
Aside from that, Sonny has one particular goal in mind – he wants to be able to skate around the rink with a beer in-hand.
Plotting to impress his mates come Christmas 2021, Sonny has devoted himself to successfully skating backward on the rink.
He admitted: "The main thing I want to do is learn how to skate backwards so that when Christmas comes I can go on the ice with a beer in my hand and show off.
"Anything else is a bonus!"
Dancing on Ice returns on Sunday, January 17 at 6pm on ITV.
