Ever since he arrived back in Coronation Street, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) has been working on driving a wedge between his ex Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and his current partner Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).
After a night working on the helpline, Paul can barely keep his eyes open at work. While Paul nips to the loo, cunning Todd swaps the delivery boxes meant for the hospital.
When Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) tears a strip off Paul for sending out the wrong order to the hospital, Paul tells her to stick to her job and marches off.
When Billy reveals that he’s spoken to the bishop and asked him if they can turn the archdeacon’s house into a half-way house, Paul’s incredulous.
Sarah offers Paul his job back and Paul’s pleasantly surprised when Sarah reveals that he’s got Todd to thank for sticking up for him. Paul thanks Todd. When Paul reveals that Billy’s working late, Todd invites himself and Sean round for dinner.
Back at Paul’s flat, Todd plies him with alcohol and cajoles him into trying on Billy’s religious robes. Billy returns home and is unamused to find Paul prancing about in his robes.
The next day, Billy and Paul make up, their row the night before forgotten. Summer arrives back from her stay at Geraldine’s. She’s shocked and angry to see Todd.
In the factory, Todd pokes fun at Sean’s new business venture. When Summer calls in, Paul explains that Summer is prepared to hear him out. Summer tells Billy that at Paul’s suggestion, she’s cleared the air with Todd.
Billy thanks Paul for his intervention. Sean warns Todd that he’s got the measure of him and it’s time he stopped trying to drive a wedge between Billy and Paul.
But is Todd really going to give up?
