Strictly fans spot clue that professional favourite could be quitting show

Fans of Strictly Come Dancing believe they have worked out one of the most popular professional dancers could be leaving the show.

Strictly made its big debut on BBC One last Saturday, as all couples took to the ballroom to dance live for the first time. Eastenders star Nigel Harman came out on top, scoring an eye-watering 32 points, but others were less successful.

Nikita Kanda, host on the BBC's Asian Network, is tipped to be the first celebrity to go home, after finished second to the bottom on the leaderboard last Saturday night (September 23). At the end of the night, Nikita and partner Gorka Marquez scored a meagre 18 points from the judges.

And fans on the show believe that Gorka's time on the show could be fleeting, with many taking to social media to talk through their theories. One user wrote: "Anyone else have a feeling that Gorka will call it a day after this series if he’s out early doors with Nikita?"

Gorka has had successful runs on the show, being paired up with former Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton last year. Reaching the final, Gorka and Helen finished as co-runners up to eventual winner Hamza.

The fan continued with their thoughts: "I was quite surprised he came back this year after he seemed so devastated not to win in 2022. But I’ll be really gutted if he does leave as I see him as one of the best pro dancers and choreo."

Other fans of the show were quick to agree with them, with a second viewer saying they had noticed he was not happy losing out on the win. "One of the main things I remember from the final last year was how angry he looked," they added.

A third joined in the speculation, commenting: "I feel that too. I commented earlier that he already looks pissed off and I don't feel he thinks this year's partnership will be his finest hour." Gorka, 33, is settling into family life, as he revels with former Emmerdale actress and fiancée Gemma Atkinson. The pair have two kids together – Mia, four, and newborn son Thiago.
