Strictly's Nicola Adams and Katya Jones asked contestants to 'dance for them on Saturday night' after coronavirus axe

STRICTLY Come Dancing's Nicola Adams and Katya Jones told the other contestants to "dance for them on Saturday night" after their axe, Ranvir Singh has shared.

The Sun Online revealed yesterday that the pair had been forced out of the competition after professional dancer Katya tested positive for coronavirus.

Speaking on this morning's Good Morning Britain, Ranvir shared the rest of the Strictly cast's reaction to the shock news.

In a pre-recorded video message, the star praised the groundbreaking couple – who were the first same-sex pairing in the BBC One show's history.

Ranvir shared: "It has absolutely swelled my heart and the nation's heart to see Nicola and Katya breaking those boundaries, doing something so beautiful and being brilliant at their dancing."

She added: "On Saturday, honestly, we will be dancing for Nicola and Katya because that's what they said: 'Just go out there and do it for the team'."

Ranvir has wowed Strictly viewers with her impressive footwork on the programme, and is currently top of the leaderboard with partner Giovanni Pernice.

Meanwhile, Nicola found herself in the dance-off on Sunday night – but she and Katya were voted through to this weekend over NFL player Jason Bell and Luba Mushtuk.

The two women were understandably devastated to leave the show in this way as they updated fans via social media after the news broke.

The Sun told yesterday how Strictly bosses were launching a probe into how coronavirus has left the show in chaos despite their strict "bubble" system.

The investigation is believed to include Katya's visit to a sandwich shop before she tested positive, with the remaining cast told to bring packed lunches to rehearsals from now on.

We also revealed that judge Motsi Mabuse is having to step down for two weeks and isolate due to travel rules following an emergency trip to Germany.

Insiders say bosses plan to temporarily promote dancer Anton du Beke to the judging panel after years of speculation he could step up.

At least four crew members in contact with Katya also have to isolate.

Virus rules demand dancers stick to their agreed groups and avoid socialising.
