While Survivor 39: Island of the Idols viewers are currently watching the competitors make the merge, CBS just announced the premiere date for the spring Survivor 40 season.
Additionally, the highly anticipated theme and cast have already been leaked.
What is the premiere date for ‘Survivor 40?’
The reality competition show will return to CBS on February 12, 2020, at its usual 8 p.m. EST time slot. The faster than expected premiere is the earliest start for a season since Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites on February 13, 2013.
Even though Jeff Probst has teased the possibility of 90-minute episodes, Season 40 will seemingly continue the tradition of hour-long episodes. However, there will be a two-hour premiere in the form of two back-to-back episodes.
What is the theme for ‘Survivor 40?’
In July 2019, an Instagram user named Chris Scotts leaked several photos from the Mana Island Resort and Spa, which serves as the headquarters for production.
One of his images showed a logo consisting of two swords and crashing waves with the subtitle, “Winners at War.” Additionally, the new season will include the controversial Edge of Extinction twist.
While CBS has not officially released anything other than the premiere date, internet sleuths already figured it out it will be an all-winners season.
Who is a part of the ‘Survivor 40’ cast?
Back in May 2019, before Survivor 39: Island of the Idols premiered, fans already discovered who would return to compete in Survivor 40: Winners at War and leaked the list.
The returning winners, consisting of ten men and ten women, heavily features players who have competed since 2010 while there are some exceptions.
For example, favorites including John Cochran, Mike Holloway, and Richard Hatch will not return. Cochran currently works for CBS as a sitcom writer, so he probably cannot compete due to conflict of interest.
However, there haven’t been any explanations as to why Holloway or Hatch are not coming back after expressing an interest to compete again. Here is the rumored cast:

Sandra Diaz-Twine, 44, Survivor 7: Pearl Islands (2003) and Survivor 20: Heroes vs. Villians (2010)
