SWAT stars confirm the series has been renewed
CBS’ high-stakes procedural drama SWAT came to an end on Friday with its action-packed season six finale.
Sgt Dan ‘Hondo’ Harrelson (played by Shemar Moore) was back in action as his team tried to take down Sancho Zamora (Steven Bauer), the leader of the Zamora cartel.
As well as trafficking drugs into the United States, Sancho wanted revenge after a DEA and LAPD task force murdered his son, Ulan.
After the killing of one agent, a number of other DEA agents went into hiding when it was revealed Sancho had entered the USA.
However, after ensuring his family was safe Hondo teamed up with the LAPD to put Sancho behind bars.
After a close brush with death, Hondo was forced to confront his feelings and as a result, he decided to take his relationship with Nichelle Carmichael (Rochelle Aytes) a step further.
After some encouragement from his boss Robert Hicks (Patrick St. Esprit), Hondo confessed his gratitude and love for Nichelle at their daughter’s christening.
He admitted he owed her everything for allowing him to feel so much love and proceeded to get down on one knee.
As Rochelle exclaimed: “Yes,” viewers took to social media with excitement and anticipation for the season seven wedding.
Taking to Twitter, a thrilled @twentyfourdavid exclaimed: “HONDO PROPOSED IM ACTUALLY CRYING RJKRKFKFKFMF.” (sic)

While @Wynton_Mohorn remarked: “Nichelle said ‘YES’. Hondo & her are getting married & we definitely deserve to see that wedding.”
The past few weeks have been a roller coaster ride for SWAT fans as the drama was cancelled and then renewed for season seven after a viral campaign.
Hondo’s Shemar Moore quickly spoke out against the axe saying: “It makes no sense,” and encouraged fans to “make some f*****g noise”.
Three days later the network overturned their decision, which was an announcement Moore celebrated as he promised season seven would be “one hell of a send-off.”
SWAT seasons 1-6 are available to stream on CBS in the USA.
