What is the plot of The Haunting of Bly Manor?
The new series of the show will feature new characters in a completely new haunting but not much has been released about the plot yet, aside from the name.
However, some astute fans think this could reveal that the show will be a retelling of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, which also takes place at Bly Manor.
The 1898 novella follows the story of a governess who ends up looking after two children at a manor house in Essex.
When caring for them, she soon starts to see ghostly figures of a man and woman who she does not recognise in the grounds.
This would follow the same pattern at the first series, which was an adaptation of the 1959 novel The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.
WILL THE HAUNTING BE AN ANTHOLOGY SERIES?
The first season of the show was called The Haunting of Hill House and followed two timelines of the Crain family’s life.
The horror show flipped between the present day where the Crain children were adults and the past where they spent a summer at Hill House with their parents.
Haunted by what happened at the house, including the mysterious death of their mother, the children return to the house as adults to face their demons.
However, it soon becomes clear to viewers that the house itself is alive, leading to deadly consequences for the family.
