What is The Queen’s Gambit about?
The series is based on the novel of the same name which was written by Walter Tevis and was released in the early 80s.
The episodes focus on Beth who struggles with addiction during her mission to become a Grandmaster in the game of chess.
Some of the episodes have already been named, and the titles include Adjournment, End Game, Exchanges and Fork.
The official Netflix synopsis says: “When winning takes everything, what are you left with? The Queen’s Gambit follows a young chess prodigy’s rise from an orphanage to the world stage.
“But genius comes with a cost. A riveting adaptation of Walter Tevis’ groundbreaking novel comes to Netflix on October 23, starring Anya Taylor-Joy.”
Fans are excited to see Taylor-Joy in this challenging role, and many believe she is already Oscar material.
She said: “I don’t know how to explain this but she has a very cinematic face, distinct enough to be memorable but doesn’t overpower the film or story….yet plain enough that she can be moulded into any character. Is she creepy? Is she innocent? Is she sassy? She can’t be typecast.”
Another fan said: “Anya Taylor -Joy really is one of the best young actresses. Her filmography is insane.”
The 24-year-old American-British actress is known for her roles in Split, Glass and The Witch.
