This 'Avengers: Endgame' Star Is Set To Reunite With Scarlett Johansson In 'Black Widow

Scarlett Johansson is reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow next year, and one of her Avengers: Endgame friends will be teaming up with her in the solo flick. Early reports indicate that Black Widow will explore the Russian assassin’s origins and how she made the jump to S.H.I.E.L.D. Natasha has a long history with Hawkeye and there are rumblings that Jeremy Renner is returning as Clint Barton in the film.

Jeremy Renner reunites with Scarlett Johansson

Inside sources claim that Renner is reprising his role as Hawkeyein Black Widow, though he will not play a big role in the movie. It isunclear when he will appear in the film and how he will fit into the largerplot, but it is exciting to know that we will see Black Widow and Hawkeyetogether one last time. The pair teamed up in Endgame to find the SoulStone, a journey that ended with Natasha sacrificing her own life for thestone.

Production for Black Widow is currently underway in Hungary, which could hint at why Hawkeye is in the film. Natasha and Clint have had a long-running joke about an incident in Budapest, though they have never really said much about what happened. Perhaps we’ll finally find out what really happened between the two and how they first met.

Set photos reveal ‘Black Widow’ villain

While we wait to hear more on the Hawkeye front, photos from theset have revealed the possible villain in Black Widow. According to WeGot This Covered, the images feature a masked and heavily armoredcharacter riding in a tank, which some fans believe is Taskmaster. Thecharacter in the images admittedly look like Taskmaster, though his helmet hasclearly been updated for something a little more modern.

Marvel has yet to reveal casting roles in the upcoming film, though we know that Stranger Things star David Harbour has been cast for a part. It is possible that Harbour is playing Taskmaster in the movie, though nothing official has been confirmed at this point.

Renner opens up about ‘Endgame’

Natasha’s death scene on Vormir was one of the more heartbreaking moments in Endgame. After fighting with Hawkeye about who will make the sacrifice to attain the Soul Stone, Natasha eventually won out and flung herself over the cliff.

The scene was heartbreaking for Hawkeye, but it showed just howfar Natasha had grown over the years and was an amazing end to her story arc.But according to Renner, the scene originally unfolded much differently.

In the original script, Thanos showed up on Vormir and tried tostop Natasha and Hawkeye from getting the stone. The two eventually fought offThanos’ goons to grab the Soul Stone, but the scene was eventually scrapped.Renner and Johansson had to return to the studio for a quick re-shoot that didnot include a Thanos cameo. It is unclear why they decided to re-shoot the scene, though Renner hinted that it was just too complicated to pull off.

Black Widow timeline revealed

Given how Natasha made the ultimate sacrifice in Endgame, everyone suspected Black Widow would feature events before the war with Thanos. Marvel has not revealed anything about the upcoming film, but the photos from the set hint that the timeline for Black Widow is more modern than previously thought. Earlier reports pegged the setting as the 1990s, but one of the photos includes a 2017 BMW, which suggests that Black Widow starts right before Avengers: Infinity War.

If the new timeline is correct, then Black Widow might beset following the events in Captain America: Civil War. There have alsobeen rumors that the movie will take place between Infinity War and Endgame, though Natasha’s hair color pretty much throws that theory out the window.  That said, it is still possible that we getflashbacks of Natasha’s earlier days, which could reach back to the 1990s.

Black Widow is expected to be released sometime in 2020,though an official premiere date has yet to be revealed.
