This Morning fans in tears as Naughty Boy shares mums devastating health battle

DJ Naughty Boy fought back tears as he opened up about his mum's tragic dementia battle.

The former I'm A Celeb star became a career for his beloved mum Zahida at the very start of her dementia struggles.

It was only in November that he finally felt ready to leave her for weeks to appear on the ITV jungle show, hosted by Ant & Dec.

The DJ, 44, spoke about his mum's deteriorating health during a chat on ITV's This Morning on Friday (May 6).

Naughty Boy spoke to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, where he revealed his mum suffered a stroke five years ago.

He said: "Mum has always been our favourite person in the world, and that hasn't changed because of her dementia.

"She had a stroke five years ago. And vascular dementia is a common side effect of a stroke. Mum's dementia kicked in three years go.

"We knew something wasn't right. But until it became official, we just assumed it was something else. But once we knew, then the journey of dementia began."

Naughty became a carer for his mum, but was finally able to leave her for a few weeks so he could star on last year's I'm A Celeb.

He said: "I made mum the priority and that is something that will last forever. She knows her son stepped up and I’m glad we are here, she is now in a safe place".

The reality star continued: "I was away for a month and everything was fine.

"I know it’s just a TV show, but what it did for me as someone who lives with someone with dementia was reminded me it is important for both me and my mum to keep doing what I do."

ITV viewers were moved by the interview and praised the star on Twitter during the broadcast.

One wrote: "Moved to tears by Naughty Boy talking about his Mum having dementia."

Another said: "Got to say that Naughty Boy came across as a very sensitive caring and respectable young man, his mum is so lucky to have him".
