FOUR top chefs are set to battle it out tonight (May 21) in the final of the Great British Menu.

But who is finalist Daniel McGeorge? Here's everything you need to know about the wannabe winner.

Who is Great British Menu 2021 finalist Daniel McGeorge?

Dan dropped out of his law degree to pursue his passion for cooking after studying hospitality and catering at Liverpool Community College in 2011.

The 30-year-old has twice been a semi-finalist at the National Chef of the Year award in 2019 and 2020.

The Liverpudlian has worked in several prestigious kitchens including The Bath Priory Hotel and The Lawns Restaurant at Thornton Hall Hotel.

Dan is now the head chef at Rothay Manor Hotel in Ambleside, which was awarded a third AA Rosette in 2019 and was listed in the Michelin Guide 2021 with a Michelin Plate.

Dan's culinary craft at the luxurious Lake District hotel earnt him a 2020 Acorn Award which celebrates the best talent in hospitality under the age of 30.

The chef is representing the North West in the season finale after beating Kirk Haworth, Dave Critchley and Ashwani Rangta in the regional heats.

He will compete against Alex Bond, Roberta Hall-McCarron and Oli Marlow to become champion of champions in the 16th series of the illustrious BBC show.

The contestants will each have to produce one course for an outdoor banquet in keeping with the theme of the series, British innovation.

Dan will make the dessert at the banquet which will be held at Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire.

One of the final four will be crowned the winner by judges Rachel Khoo, Oliver Peyton and Matthew Fort.

When did he become head chef at Rothay Manor Hotel?

Dan became head chef of the boutique hotel in the heart of the Lake District over three years ago.

The hotel offers diners seasonal dishes in the award winning restaurant using fresh, seasonal and locally-sourced produce.

The menu boasts Stone Bass, Halibut, Lamb and Rabbit, with an A La Carte menu priced at £60 per person.

The innovative menu also provides customers with flexibility to design their own five and seven course Tasting menus, priced at £70 and £90 per person respectively.

A more laid-back experience can be had in the Brathay Room, where diners can enjoy main courses such as Dexter Sirloin, Skate Wing and Braised Lamb Shoulder next to a wood-burning stove.

The Great British Menu final will be shown on BBC Two at 8pm on Friday, May 21.

The show will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer after the final has aired.
