Yellowstone season four is looking like a possibility following the success of season three. However, some fans are worried the series may have been cancelled by Paramount Network due to the coronavirus pandemic. Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about whether Yellowstone has been cancelled or renewed.

Has Yellowstone been cancelled or renewed?

Fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Paramount Network has not cancelled the melodrama series.

In fact, in February 2020 the series was renewed for a fourth season, even before season three had been released.

An official release date has not yet been given for season four, but it is likely to air in August 2021.

The American series, which follows the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, has become more popular with each season.

The show, which stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, was created by Taylor Sheridan.

In August 2020 Good Housekeeping reported the series was due to shoot for season four.

Costner admitted filming for the series had not been easy as he had to spend so much time away from home.

Also, as the seasons are made up of 10 episodes, there is a lot of work that goes into the show.

He said: “It puts me away from home. I go home every moment I can.

“But this year, we’re filming exclusively in Montana, which makes going home almost impossible.

“When you deal with two aeroplanes, it’s all-day travel. If it’s all-day travel home, then it’s going to be all-day travel back.”

Season three ended on a major cliffhanger with John, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) all left for dead.

Season four will hopefully answer the question of who targeted the Dutton family, and whether they are still alive.

Fans are already calling for season four as they do not want to have to wait until next year to find out what happens.

With the coronavirus pandemic causing delays for TV production, it is unclear whether season four will be delayed.

In July 2020 creator Sheridan told Deadline: “We’re supposed to start mid-August, and we’re putting that together as best we can.

“I’m fortunate that this show shoots on a ranch in Montana. We’re going to shoot exclusively there this year, or in and around it.

“So we’ve got the crew and the cast up there, and it’s in an area of the state that has no active cases now.

“As long as we’re very careful to not bring any in…so once we’re there, we’ll be very cautious about how we move.”

This sounds promising as it means there are very few obstacles for the cast to overcome regarding filming.

In season four Neal McDonough may play Malcolm Beck from season two and Josh Holloway played Roarke Carter in season three.

There may well be some new additions to the cast in season four.

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement ahead of the next set of episodes.

One dan said: “#Yellowstone I need season four right now! Or at least a preview…”

Another fan said: “With all going on in the world, I don’t think it’s reasonable for us to have to wait 10 months for season four of @Yellowstone.”

They may be waiting a while for season four, but fans are just grateful to hear the series has not been cancelled.
