The third season of the Paramount Network Western sent shockwaves through the fanbase after John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) and his family suffered a dreadful series of attacks. Yellowstone star Jefferson White, best known as Jimmy, has now weighed in on whether John’s son Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) can be held responsible.

The attacks happened shortly after Jamie met up with his biological father, Garrett Randall (Will Patton), in last year’s tense season finale.

After finding out he had been secretly adopted, Jamie met up with his secret relative, who encouraged him to take the ranch for himself.

Now Garrett has been linked by name to the subsequent ambush, can Jamie be held accountable for nearly killing his adopted father?

Yellowstone stars Jefferson White, Ian Bohen and Denim Richards all seem to think so.

Unpacking the new season, Denim claimed the attacks wouldn’t have happened if Jamie hadn’t betrayed John’s trust and sought out his real father.

When asked if Jamie was complicit, the actor said: “I personally do.

“Not because he intentionally wanted to do that, but I think that he just says things.

“When you pull back from it, you’re like ‘Jamie, think about who you’re talking to. You don’t even really know this person.’”

At one of Jamie’s lowest moments, he confides in his father about feeling betrayed by the people he believed were his family up to this point.

The feud with his sister Beth (Kelly Reilly) is still raging on, but Jamie truly believed he was eventually destined to run the Yellowstone Ranch himself.

Garrett seemingly took advantage of his pain and helped orchestrate the vicious attacks to leave the Duttons vulnerable enough for him to take over.

However, Jamie has been left wondering whether he put his trust in the wrong person.

As Denim’s co-star Jefferson explained, Garrett wouldn’t have been a threat if Jamie hadn’t entered the picture.

He added: “‘Cause in a twisted way, Jamie’s dad trying to do this hit on the Duttons is an act of love for Jamie.”

“For Jamie, yeah,” Denim agreed. “For his hurt.”

Jefferson continued: “Jamie… his hands are covered in blood.”

And Denim elaborated: “You didn’t load the gun, but you just provided ammunition.”

Jamie and Garrett seemed to have reconciled for now, cementing his status as the black sheep of the Dutton family.

However, his actions have once again invoked Beth’s fury, so it may only be a matter of time before John takes his final revenge for the attacks against his family.

Yellowstone season four continues Sundays on the Paramount Network.
