{"id":67282,"date":"2023-09-19T17:19:09","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T17:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rapidcelnews.com\/?p=67282"},"modified":"2023-09-19T17:19:09","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T17:19:09","slug":"katharine-mcphee-responds-to-resurfaced-clip-of-her-sitting-on-russell-brand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rapidcelnews.com\/entertainment\/katharine-mcphee-responds-to-resurfaced-clip-of-her-sitting-on-russell-brand\/","title":{"rendered":"Katharine McPhee responds to resurfaced clip of her sitting on Russell Brand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Katharine McPhee Meets Russell Brand (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Fweo7zFgLrA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Katharine McPhee has spoken out after an old clip of her with Russell Brand resurfaced amid allegations of rape and sexual assault against him.<\/p>\n<p>Several women have accused the St Trinian\u2019s actor, 48, of inappropriate behaviour, with investigations currently underway from the Metropolitan Police, the BBC, and Channel 4.<\/p>\n<p>Brand denies the accusations, claiming any sexual encounters over the seven-year period in question were \u2018consensual\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>But more women are coming forward, with old interviews and TV appearances also being dug up and circulating online.<\/p>\n<p>One of these is a clip with US singer McPhee, 39, who appeared on The Tonight Show in 2013 alongside Brand.<\/p>\n<p>Host Jimmy Fallon appeared shocked as the comedian grabbed McPhee and started bouncing her on his lap.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/PRI_186614469-9a46-e1695135624639.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Viewers also noted that she looked uncomfortable.<\/p>\n<p>The clip has since been shared on Instagram, with McPhee taking to the comments to insist the act was actually \u2018harmless\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I know nothing what you are trying to claim here but this specific incident was over 10 years ago and it was harmless,\u2019 she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Please don\u2019t try and use me for whatever purpose you are trying to serve.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Brand tried to flirt with McPhee, telling her as she walked out: \u2018You\u2019re beautiful.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>McPhee then spoke in her interview with Fallon about the Super Bowl and \u2018exchanging numbers\u2019 with the family of football coach Jim Harbaugh, who are fans of hers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>As Brand sat next to her listening, Fallon noted: \u2018Russell, are you thinking about something?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Yeah, as a matter of fact, I was thinking about something,\u2019 he replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018As you know, I\u2019ve announced it, I find Katharine very attractive, but when she said exchange numbers, I thought of things I\u2019d like to exchange with her.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The studio audience laughed and McPhee started to giggle.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Numbers!\u2019, Brand insisted, before adding: \u2018And genes.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Later in the interview, McPhee casually dropped in that she had a husband as a reminder to Brand, as she was married to Nick Cokas at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018You could drop that guy any day,\u2019 he told her.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m only joking, you should never destroy a marriage unless you\u2019re really bored,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a webbrowser thatsupports HTML5video<\/p>\n<p>Before walking off, Brand told McPhee: \u2018I didn\u2019t know you were married, I\u2019m gonna f**k off now!
