Phaidon is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary through a number of special offerings throughout the year, including a suite of new editions, such as a print release by American ceramicist and painter, Woody De Othello.

Born in Miami and now based in San Francisco, Othello is typically known for creating biomorphic sculptures made of bodily forms, mixed with ordinary household objects, and flora. “Home holds a lot of psychic energy,” Othello told the New York Times, when previously describing the drive behind his work. By breathing life into banal inanimate objects, he seeks to realign our perspective to the things we choose to surround ourselves with on a daily basis.

Produced in collaboration with Artspace, Othello’s new print our glass (2023) was made by mixing sand with paint to create an exaggerated dining scene, where wine glasses are paired with chairs, flowers, and fruits, resulting in a dynamic medley. As an edition of 30, the archival pigment print is screen-printed with fluorescent varnish on Entrada Rag Bright White 290 gsm paper. Sizing at 23 x 17 inches, our glass (2023) comes signed by the artist and is available to purchase for $1,500 USD.
