We all make mistakes at work but when you’re a producer for Radio 1 these can be big errors as Chris Sawyer found out.

The BBC Radio 1 Breakfast co-producer noticed a rather embarrassing blunder on Greg James’ show on Tuesday morning.

He had made a ‘typo’ in the song title one of Avicii’s songs, visible to the 4.65 million listeners who might tune into the show.

Chris had accidentally written ‘Silooettes’ instead of Silhouettes, a song released by the late Swedish artist in 2012.

‘I made a spelling mistake at work today,’ he wrote, sharing pictures of the mistake and follow-up texts from listeners.

Chris joked: ‘But I apologised in the exact same place I made the mistake, so everyone forgave me. The end.’

Songs are generally kept in a system which automatically fills out the title and artist for each track, however, not all songs are on the playlist.

The error happened during the 10-minute takeover, where listeners can request any song they want to be played by Greg.

As Silhouettes is an older song and not already on the system, Chris had to quickly fill in the information manually before the song played.

Listeners quickly picked up on the slip-up and were writing in to joke about the error with Greg, so to apologise Chris once again took to the song title space.

‘Sorry for the spelling mistake – Chris,’ appeared on screens, apparently as a new hit track by Zara Larsson.

His hilarious apology worked as he shared a snippet of some of the responses he received from listeners.

‘You’re forgiven producer Chris,’ wrote Lydia in Cyprus, while another said: ‘Apology accepted Chris.’

‘We’ll let you off’, responded two listeners including ‘Eric the trucker’.

We’re not sure if host Greg forgave him but how could you stay mad with such a funny resolution – waiting for Zara to drop the single now!
