Strictly Come Dancing professionalAmy Dowden looked sensational as she headed to thePride of Britain Awards in London on Sunday 8 October. <\/p>\n

Amy, whorevealed she'd been diagnosed with Grade 3 breast cancer in May this year, opted for a gorgeous pink dress as she posed for pictures on the red carpet at the annual event. <\/p>\n

For the occasion, 33 year old Amy dazzled as she wore a slinky one shoulder dress in a statement bubblegum pink colour, accessorising the look with a boxy silver clutch bag and a pair of stunning statement earrings.<\/p>\n

With October marking Breast Cancer Awareness month, Amy\u2019s pink dress took on a special meaning – not just in its colour, but in its design.<\/p>\n

Featuring a bow to one shoulder, the oversized detail resembled the pink ribbon that has become the universal symbol of breast cancer.<\/p>\n

For the red carpet, Amy also stepped out without a wig – justone day after she made a surprise appearance on Strictly Come Dancing where she opened up about how she\u2019d \u201cembraced the bald\u201d. <\/p>\n

Having recently shaved her head due to hair loss from chemotherapy treatment,something she documented in an emotional Instagram video, Amy explained that she\u2019d been supported by her Strictly family to have the \u201ccourage\u201d to appear on TV without a wig. <\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram, the dancer said: \u201cThere are no words to describe the pure joy and happiness I felt last night being back with my @bbcstrictly family. It is their love and support that gave me the courage to decide last minute to step out and brave the bald.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cNot saying it was easy and I still miss my long hair dearly but gosh did it feel liberating and it\u2019s breast cancer awareness month which gave me that extra push to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since receiving her diagnosis five months ago, Amy has been open about her breast cancer experience and has discussedundergoing a single mastectomy andfive rounds of chemotherapy to treat the disease. <\/p>\n

Amy also recently revealed thatshe nearly died following chemotherapy treatment when her first and second cycles of chemo led to life-threatening complications. First she suffered from sepsis and secondly with blood clots. <\/p>\n

\u201cI remember going into hospital and them telling me I had an infection, but the following day it got very bad, I was unresponsive to antibiotics for hours,\u201d she toldthe Mirror. <\/p>\n

She added: \u201cWe met the paramedics a week later and they said if I had gone to bed that night I might not have woken up the next morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
