Ryan Thomas was a nervous wreck watching his younger brother Adam Thomas competing in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom over the weekend.

Best known for his time playing Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street for 16 years before going on to win Celebrity Big Brother in 2018, Ryan, 39, exclusively caught up with OK! on the Pride of Britain Awards red carpet, where we quizzed him on his feelings in the build-up to next year's Dancing on Ice.

"Super excited, yeah, new challenge," he replied, before weighing in on whether he and Adam, 35, were trying to outdo each other on their respective reality shows.

"We're not in competition, we're very supportive of each other. I literally just got back from there last night and it was the most nerve-wracking experience, and I wasn't even on the dancefloor.

"Credit to all the guys there dancing last night, it was a magical show and it was great to be a spectator, but every time Adam comes on I'm not enjoying any of it because I'm just… I'm feeling everything he's feeling," he admitted.

As for Adam supporting him during the Dancing on Ice stretch, Ryan laughed: "Listen, he hasn't got much choice, has he? That's the problem when you have the same surname, you have to support!"

This comes after a source told The Sun that ITV bosses are "hugely excited" to welcome Ryan out onto the ice, "as he'll bring with him an army of soap fans and celeb mates who'll dutifully want to tune in and see how he fares on the ice.

"He has a big personality so will make a cracking reality TV. Ryan is looking forward to the challenge of doing something different."

Over in Adam's world, the Waterloo Road actor has been suffering with rheumatoid arthritis all year, which consists of shooting pains in his knees, wrists, fingers, ankles and toes.

"I’ve not talked about this before but no-one really knows the pain I’ve been going through," he told the Mirror back in September. "I put on a brave face but it’s been difficult to keep that persona up. Emotionally and physically, it’s had a huge impact on my life this year."

Some days he can barely walk and there's also been instances where Adam even struggled to haul himself out of bed.

"I just never saw this coming and I didn’t know what was happening to me," he reflected.

"I was like: 'Can someone just give me an answer as to what is going on?' The pain was such that I couldn’t even walk down stairs and I could just stay in bed all day because it can be quite severe. I could have good days and bad days, but on the bad days, it was really, really bad."

Seeing the sunny side of the situation, Adam caveated by suggesting everything happens for a reason, and that he knows that he'll come out the other end a much "stronger" person.
