<\/p>\nJonnie Irwin has told fans he\u2019s \u201cgrateful\u201d to be home following his hospital admission – but hinted that there will be "bigger issues to confront" in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n
The former A Place In The Sun star, 49, was given just six months to live in 2020 when he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. The cancer then spread to his brain, and almost two and a half years later he publicly shared his diagnosis in December 2022. <\/p>\n
Since then, Jonnie has been making as many memories as he can with his family including wife Jessica Holmes. The couple also share three children, Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac<\/p>\n

However, on Monday (November 13) Jonnie revealed he had been admitted to hospital with jaundice. The property expert also said his symptoms were "fever and acute stabbing pain in my right hand side."<\/p>\n

But later on, Jonnie told his loyal legion of fans that he was back at home. Taking to his Instagram, he shared a snap of him smiling as he posed next to his eldest child, who was fast asleep.<\/p>\n
In the caption he revealed that \u201cbigger issues\u201d are to come – but assured fans he has turned a corner. He wrote: \u201cWell the blood tests and scans today show my liver function is heading in the right direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere's bigger issues we will have to confront in a couple of weeks but for now I'm allowed home. I'm taking the small win for now. Rex tried to stay up to welcome me home but couldn't quite stay awake bless him, although Reggie and Ronnie were wide awake so I got to them a story. Big big thanks to all the doctors and nurses who looked after me I'm so grateful to be home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fans were quick to send their support to Jonnie. Rushing to the comments section, one person said: \u201cYou're such a positive influence on so many… keep fighting this.\u201d<\/p>\n
Echoing their thoughts, a second added: \u201cYou are amazing, a wonderful dad and husband. Keep strong keep fighting.\u201d A third penned: \u201cI wish you nothing but happiness and health your attitude will see you through this and the love of your family will give you strength.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Jonnie opened up about a big regret amid his terminal cancer fight, saying he wants people to learn from his \u201cmistake\u201d. Speaking on AIG Life\u2019s The OneChat podcast, Jonnie said he wanted to leave a \u201cpositive footprint\u201d in the world as he talked about what he wished he'd done differently<\/p>\n
\u201cI want people to learn from my mistake,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t take critical illness insurance out and therefore I had to keep working. Without work, I\u2019ve got no means of paying the bills.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cAnd if I had taken the critical illness insurance out, that could\u2019ve covered my outgoings and I probably could have come out and told the world a lot sooner. I could have had two years of living a more open lifestyle,\u201d said the 49-year-old. He then added: \u201cAnd I want people to learn from that mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n
