Big Brother has been hit with 450 Ofcom complaints relating to episodes involving Trish's shock exit.

The 33-year-old mum was evicted from the ITV house on Friday (November 10) alongside Chanelle, leaving viewers completely stunned as she was tipped to win the show. Fans were furious with the result and even called for the series to be cancelled.

133 complaints were made to the broadcasting regulator over Trish's eviction. Trish and Chanelle both appeared on Big Brother: Late and Live and gave their first interviews immediately after leaving the house.

A further 328 complaints were made relating to the episode. Just days after her eviction, a number of "racist" and "homophobic" remarks made by the star around 10 years ago resurfaced online.

After the now-deleted tweets emerged, Trish was banned from attending other episodes of Late and Live. In addition, producers revealed they were investigating the third party who seemingly missed the comments when they performed a background check before she entered the house.

A spokesperson told The Sun: "This weekend, we have been made aware of concerning historical tweets. We are currently looking into why they were not identified by the independent supplier we engage to review the digital footprint of potential Housemates as part of our pre-checks."

Trish later issued a statement apologising from the offensive tweets, admitting there were "no excuses". The statement said: "I'm aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have resurfaced and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have caused to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned.

"There are no excuses for the ignorance that I showed and I am deeply disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed that I once made such comments. The reality star understood that her fans would be disappointed the comments, adding: "I appreciate the support you've all given me on the show and I understand you feel disappointed."

She went on: "I know apologies can seem convenient in these circumstances but I mean it from the bottom of my heart; I am truly sorry. I hope it is possible for you to offer me grace and believe that people can change.

"I am committed to being the person I am now, the person you have known me as – someone who speaks up, stands for what they believe in and is always open to growth and accountability. Love Trish."
