With Christmas fast approaching, it has been claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be spending the festive period in the UK, rather than at their home in California.

It was reported that the couple and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, could make the journey across the pond after they received offers to stay with not only the Royal Family, but with close family friends too.

It comes after stories continue to swirl that Prince Harry is feeling homesick for the UK and wishes to spend a greater deal of his time here.

Experts have also suggested he is keen to introduce his young children to the traditions he enjoyed so much growing up in locations such as Sandringham, Windsor and Balmoral.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told GB News that Harry will be looking to recreate some British festive traditions for his children, but he will be unable to replicate the royal experience at Sandringham, where the Firm spend Christmas and New Year.

She said: "I am sure there are moments when Harry must feel homesick. California is a world away from Britain and a world away from a British Christmas.

"I suspect they will have many of the British traditions that Harry is used to, we have seen him dressing the tree with Archie. They will have as close to a British Christmas in California as they can.

"Of course, what they won't have is the traditional royal Christmas experience at Sandringham."

As it is unlikely that the couple will join the Royal Family at Sandringham, OK! recently revealed they had been invited to stay with the van Straubenzee family.

A source explained: “Harry has been invited, along with Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, to join Charles van Straubenzee’s family during the festive season. They have homes in London and Lincolnshire.

“Charlie is Harry’s best friend and also Archie’s godfather and the pair have recently grown closer again following a rather distant few years when Harry first moved over to America.”

The source added: “Harry always enjoyed large family Christmases. It’s a shame that his children will miss out on the fun. He used to say that nobody could celebrate Christmas like the Windsors. He experienced that festive togetherness for his entire life until his move to America and he really misses it.

“The Christmas plans are causing a bit of tension because he’s fed up with being away from everyone during key milestones.”

Relationship expert Louella Alderson told us it would be no surprise if the couple’s Christmas arrangements were a cause of strain.

“Given that Harry and Meghan have spent the last four Christmases outside of the UK, it’s understandable that Harry may want to return home for the holidays,” she said.

“It’s also unsurprising that the conversation surrounding their plans might be causing tension between him and Meghan. Many couples struggle to agree on this matter.”
