A BELOVED thriller is returning after five years off screens as Nicole Kidman announces its comeback against all the odds.

Nicole, 56, revealed the exciting news during an on stage interview after she was asked about her favourite roles.

She said: "I loved Moulin Rouge, but I loved Big Little Lies."

As the audience cheered in approval, she continued: "It sort of came along in a time in my life where I had my children and I was thinking I was going to retire, and then this situation came along where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show and create that show.

"Then all of you watched it and made it a massive success."

She then added: "We’ll be bringing you a third one just FYI."

Big Little Lies starred Nicole and Reese, as well as Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern, Meryl Streep and Shailene Woodley.

The series is based on Liane Moriarty’s novel and follows a group of upper-middle-class mums in a small Californian town, whose lives are rocked by a murder.

The first series aired in 2017, while the second followed in 2019.

Season one received 16 Primetime Emmy nominations – winning eight – as well as four Golden Globes, including Best Miniseries or Television Film.

However, co-star Zoe had previously expressed her doubts at the show returning for a third series following the death of the show's director, Jean-Marc Vallée.

Jean-Marc died in 2021 at age 58 due to a fatal cardiac arrhythmia, and Zoe said in a TikTok video last year: "I don't think it is [returning].

"We talked about doing a season three a lot and, unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away this last year and I just can't imagine going on without him."

She added: "He really was the visionary for that show. So, unfortunately, it's done."
