Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) has her parenting skills tested when Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) is poisoned in Coronation Street spoilers.

When Joseph tells Gemma he’s under the weather and can’t go to school. But after his latest trip to A&E that amounted to nothing, she doesn’t believe him, and sends him packing.

However it seems Joseph isn’t lying when Chesney Winter-Brown (Sam Aston) is called to pick his poorly son up. And when Chesney returns home with the suggestion that Gemma ignored signs of Joseph being ill to which she takes huge offence and brands herself a terrible mother.

Later on, when the Winter-Brown’s prepare for their early Christmas, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) advises Gemma to give Joseph some lavender tea to perk him up.

However, Joseph passes out and when he’s taken to hospital, the doctors reveal he’s been poisoned.

As Joseph returns home, the family all gather together for Christmas lunch but a child protection officer pays them a visit.

She asks to interview Gemma, and when everyone leaves the house the protection officer suggests that Gemma poisoned Joseph on purpose.

Meanwhile, Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) is horrified when his dad, Sarge Bailey (Ram John Holder), arrives on the street earlier than expected.

Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) suggests a big family meal out, and Ed secretly panics when his brother insists they’ll pick up the tab.

Having taken out a payday loan, Ed scans the racing pages for a win. After losing his bet, Ronnie pays for lunch. Matters only get worse for Ed when Sarge makes himself at home before asking his sons for a loan, of which Ronnie agrees to.

Also, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) is sick of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) being constantly on her phone at work. When Shona later catches her at the precinct rather than her call centre job a guilty Lauren makes out she swapped shifts, what is she up to?

Lauren gifts Max Turner (Paddy Bever) an expensive watch to thank him for everything he’s done and makes out she’s been given a promotion at the call centre.

Feeling guilty, Max returns the watch to Lauren and explains that it’s too generous. Shona listens, mildly suspicious. In the café, Bernie tells Shona about the missing £80 from the till. Shona confronts Lauren and accuses her of stealing the money and suspends her.

George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) can see Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) is being bullied at school and tries to get him to open up by talking about his own experiences.

Plus, Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) suggests to Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) they have a night out in town. But when she reveals she’s already arranged to meet her college friends, Asha tells her not to cancel as she’ll meet Isla (Emily Dowson) instead.
