A number of contestants taking part in this year's series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here have suffered the wrath of ITV bosses over plans to sneak contraband into camp.

Following the arrival of newcomers Frankie Dettori and Tony Bellew, co-stars including Fred Sirieix, Sam Thompson and Danielle Harold were warned their plot would be deemed a rule break leading to serious consequences for the famous faces.

Whilst smuggling ingredients salt and pepper may sound like a minor offence, doing so is strictly prohibited by the broadcaster. The situation arose after jockey Frankie's team emerged victorious from a challenge and were treated to a slap-up breakfast.

Having wolfed down their meal, the celebs began to ponder whether to take condiments with them in order to spice up future offerings of rice and beans.

Fred said: "I think we should keep some of the bacon to cook with the beans later." And his idea prompted Jamie Lynn Spears to admit: "Fred is quite the scavenger. He goes and he finds the butter, the salt, the pepper, rosemary, thyme, bacon and he mixes it in the bean stock."

"These beans are going to be amazing!" declared Fred in delight. His joy was short-lived, however, after the production team rumbled his scheme – with EastEnders' Danielle forced to warn her campmates on the show's behalf of the consequences of such misdemeanours.

After receiving the order from the Bush Telegraph, the actress relayed the news to her fellow celebs. "Guys… Home team, as winners of the breakfast of champions you are only allowed to eat the food," she began. "You must not share anything with the Away team."

She continued: "Any food you have taken or used to flavour the rice and beans must be consumed now, or handed in. If you have not consumed or handed in all of the food by the time they return there will be consequences, including the possible loss of stars from today’s trial."

Earlier on Monday (November 27), meanwhile, it was reported that the show's viewing figures had suffered another significant drop – with the casting of former UKIP leader Nigel Farage largely to blame. As a result, a boycott against the show has been taking place, with ratings plummeting on launch night, dropping by 2.2 million compared to 2022 figures. And now it seems the number of people tuning in has continued to fall.

Saturday's episode of the show saw over 1.3 million viewers tune out from the show compared to last Monday's instalment. In total, 5.5 million people watched the show, having been bumped out of its usual time slot.

I'm A Celebrity airs every day on ITV1 and ITVX.
