Duong was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, an extremely aggressive form of cancer, after experiencing a headache and a noticeable bulge in his left eye. His condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to septic shock shortly before his death.
During his treatment, Duong underwent chemotherapy and white blood cell injections to bolster his immune system. Despite these efforts, he had already lost vision in his left eye due to a malignant mass that was blocking blood flow to his optic nerve.
Duong’s journey through illness was supported by a GoFundMe page set up in February 2025 to assist him and his family during this challenging time. He is survived by his wife, Christina, and their 5-year-old daughter, Everest, who he cherished deeply.
Duong was known for his role as Sonny Le on the television series ‘Blue Bloods’, where he appeared from 2021 to 2024. His talent and charisma left a lasting impression on fans and colleagues alike.
Steele also shared, “He was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born.” This poignant moment underscores the deep bond Duong had with his family.
