Anthony Rizzo and David Ross are set to launch their podcast titled ‘The Lovable Reunion’ on April 1, 2026, focusing on the iconic 2016 Chicago Cubs season that ended a 108-year championship drought.
The podcast will delve into behind-the-scenes stories from the Cubs’ historic season and will feature interviews with key players from the 2016 roster, including expected appearances from Kris Bryant, Joe Maddon, and Jake Arrieta. Rizzo described the podcast as a ‘passion project’, emphasizing the authenticity of the conversations.
Rizzo stated, ‘This is us alone.’ The podcast will not be affiliated with the Cubs’ marketing department, allowing Rizzo and Ross complete control over the content. They have already taped several episodes, starting with former teammate Jon Lester.
David Ross remarked, ‘I think we asked the stuff fans want to know.’ The duo aims to explore the human side and challenges faced during the 2016 season, offering listeners a unique perspective on the team’s journey to victory.
Initially, two episodes will be released each week, with a total of 12 episodes planned for the series. Rizzo noted that while most content will be PG-13, some discussions may be rated R, indicating a candid approach to storytelling.
