AOC Faces Scrutiny Over Campaign Spending and ICE Agent Reinstatement

AOC’s campaign is under investigation for spending nearly $19,000 on psychiatrist Dr. Brian Boyle, who specializes in controversial ketamine therapy. This scrutiny comes as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expresses outrage over the reinstatement of ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who fatally shot Renee Good.

AOC’s campaign raised $4.1 million in contributions last quarter, totaling $28.9 million for the 2026 election cycle. The amount paid to Dr. Boyle on January 12 was $4,550. Critics have raised ethical concerns regarding the use of campaign funds for mental health services.

The film “John Wish,” produced by AOC Community Media, recently won two awards at the Film Prize Junior Festival. The awards received were the Founder’s Circle Award and the Audience Choice Award for Best Movie Poster. Voting for this award remains open until May 7.

Ocasio-Cortez condemned the reinstatement of Jonathan Ross, stating, “God forbid, every single American, every single person that that man encounters from his reinstatement on is in just great danger as she was in.” Governor Kathy Hochul has also requested confirmation that Ross has not been reassigned to work in New York State.

Ross was placed on three days of administrative leave after the shooting of Renee Good. The case has sparked renewed discussions about police accountability and public safety.

Paul Kamenar, a critic of AOC’s financial decisions, stated, “AOC needs to come clean and explain to her contributors and the FEC why she spent almost $24,000 of campaign funds on a Boston psychiatrist who specializes in ketamine therapy and has no expertise in political campaigns.” This statement highlights concerns regarding transparency in campaign finance.

Rep. Sarah McBride added that it is evident that this administration has not learned from past tragedies, emphasizing the need for accountability and reform.
