Gigi Hadid surrounded by security after death threats for Palestine remarks

Gigi Hadid didn’t let death threats get in her way as she attended the grand opening of her Guest In Residence store in New York City Thursday night.

This marks the first public event after the backlash she received for sharing a meme on Instagram that expressed her support for Palestine.

The mother-of-one was escorted to the new clothing store by multiple bodyguards as she arrived at the event.

Keeping a low-key appearance, Gigi sported an oversized white knit sweater and a black leather maxi skirt.

She completed her outfit with a pair of black knee-high boots and dangly silver earrings.

Her blonde tresses were worn in a half-up, half-down style and she kept her makeup light and natural.

Supporting the supermodel were her mom Yolanda Hadid and fellow model and friend Taylor Hill.

Gigi came under fire after she shared an infographic about support for Palestine on Instagram, and has since been mistaken for antisemitism or support for Hamas.

The post originally shared by @consent.wizardy read: “There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians.

“Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas.”

Gigi, whose father Mohamed Hadid is Palestinian, has been slammed by Israel’s government for her posts in support of the Palestinian people.

Alongside the graphic, the State of Israel added the caption: “@gigihadid Have you been sleeping the past week?

“Or are you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you.”

It has since been claimed Gigi and her family have been receiving death threats over their support for Palestine and have reportedly been forced to take action.

According to TMZ, Gigi and her family, including sister Bella Hadid and brother Anwar Hadid have had to change their phone numbers amid the threats.

It has also been claimed that Gigi’s dad Mohamed is considering going to the FBI over the spate of death threats.

Mohamed also has children Marielle, 43, and Alana, 38, with his ex Mary Butler.

Gigi’s appearance comes after various celebrities have been speaking out about the conflict including Madonna and Shannen Doherty who showed her support for Israel.
