Amanda Abbington shuts down feud rumours with Gio and says they ‘laugh a lot’

Amanda Abbington has taken to social media to share a poignant post about mental health.

This comes after it was confirmed that the 49-year-old actress wouldn’t be taking part in this weekend’s live Strictly Come Dancing show due to medical reasons.

But despite not addressing the reason for her absence, Amanda took to Instagram stories to share a quote with her 119,000 followers.

The post, which was originally shared by an account called @positiveminds011 featured an image of the late comedian Robin Williams.

It was accompanied by a quote that read: “People don’t fake depression… they fake being okay. Remember that. Be kind.”

Janette Manrara shared the news that Amanda and professional partner Giovanni Pernice, 33, would not be performing on this week’s show on the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two.

Janette told viewers at the start of the show: “We have some breaking news.

“Unfortunately, due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.”

Janette went on to tell audiences that due to the rules of the hit BBC show, the couple would have a chance to dance again.

“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week” Janette confirmed.

Before adding: “Amanda, we hope you get well soon my love! Sending you all the best wishes.”

Amanda and her Italian dance partner were set to perform a Cha Cha Cha to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai on tonight’s show.

However, just before the announcement was made, Amanda posted an image to her Instagram stories to pay tribute to Haydn Gwynne, who died at the age of 66.

Sharing a photo of the actress who starred in The Crown, The Windsors, and Drop The Dead Donkey, Amanda wrote: “A huge and devastating loss. Such a sad day.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns tonight at 6.30pm on BBC One.
