“Diego, just like a lot of the undrafted free agents, (is) trying to make his mark,” said Ravens offensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Pavia signed a three-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent after a controversial draft experience.
Pavia was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2025, finishing second to Fernando Mendoza. He threw for 10,255 yards and rushed for 3,094 yards during his college career at Vanderbilt. Last season, he led the SEC in completion percentage (70%), passing touchdowns (29), and yards per attempt (9.4).
Pavia’s performance at the NFL Combine raised concerns about his height and age—he is listed at 5-foot-10 and weighs 203 pounds. He became the first Heisman Trophy finalist to go undrafted since 2014.
During the rookie minicamp in Owings Mills, MD, Pavia split practice reps with fellow undrafted quarterback Joe Fagnano. Minter noted that Pavia has had learning experiences that could help him improve. “For us, we see it as an opportunity to bring a player in that could potentially be something,” Minter added.
While Pavia did not throw the ball downfield during practice, he participated in individual drills. His personality has been described as brash and polarizing, which may influence his chances of making the team.
Pavia aims to earn an invitation to Baltimore Ravens training camp this summer. His path forward will depend on his performance and adaptation to the NFL level.
