Erika Kirk Appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board
Erika Kirk has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by President Donald Trump, marking a significant moment for the Academy and continuing the legacy of her late husband, Charlie Kirk. She will serve on the board for a minimum of three years or until a successor is chosen.
The board, which consists of 16 seats with only two currently vacant, is responsible for making recommendations to the Secretary of Defense and the President regarding the Academy’s operations. Erika Kirk’s appointment was confirmed by White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales, who stated, “President Trump made the perfect choice in appointing Erika Kirk to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.”
Erika Kirk is the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who previously served on the board before his assassination on September 10, 2025. In her new role, she aims to inspire the next generation of service members and advance the Academy’s mission.
Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, the chair of the board, expressed confidence in Erika’s capabilities, saying, “Erika is the right person to fill Charlie’s place on the Board and continue his work of inspiring the next generation of service members and advancing the Academy.”
In addition to her new responsibilities, Erika Kirk is the CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, an organization focused on promoting conservative values among young people. She won the title of Miss Arizona USA in 2012 and earned her Juris Master’s from Liberty University School of Law in 2019.
The board inquires into various aspects of the Academy, including morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, and fiscal affairs, ensuring that the institution maintains high standards. Olivia Wales remarked, “Charlie Kirk served proudly on the Board, inspiring not only the next generation of servicemembers, but millions around the world with his bold Christian faith, defense of the truth, and deep love of country.”
