Heat Advisory Issued

A heat advisory is in effect for much of Los Angeles County, including Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-low 90s in some areas, prompting officials to warn residents to take necessary precautions.

On Sunday, highs are forecasted to reach 89 degrees under clear skies, with overnight temperatures dropping to around 51 degrees. The National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office has emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

Wind speeds are also a concern, with gusts expected to reach between 30 and 40 miles per hour in the valleys. This combination of high temperatures and strong winds can elevate the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Historically, heat advisories in this region are not uncommon, particularly during the late summer months. The current heat wave is being fueled by northeasterly winds originating in Nevada’s Great Basin, which have pushed their way into Los Angeles.

Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to cool slightly on Monday, with highs around 73 degrees. However, a rebound is anticipated midweek, with temperatures climbing back to 81 degrees by Wednesday.

Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents to remain vigilant. “People outside need to take precautions to avoid heat-related illness,” a representative from the National Weather Service stated.

As the advisory remains in effect, residents are encouraged to stay informed about changing weather conditions and to take appropriate measures to protect themselves from the heat.
