The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado touchdown near Wheatfield, Indiana, with peak winds reaching 110 mph, classifying it as an EF-1 tornado.

Lake Village, in particular, was reported to be ‘decimated’ by the tornado, which carved a path of destruction estimated to be 45 to 50 miles long. Kankakee County has declared a state of emergency due to the severity of the damage. A tornado touched down near the Kankakee fairgrounds around 6:30 p.m. and continued northeast into Aroma Park, causing significant devastation.

An Aroma Park resident shared their experience, stating, “The force of the wind was just absolutely unbelievable, and that hail hit our roof, and it sounded like we were getting it with bombs.”
