Kenneth Walker signs with Kansas City Chiefs
Kenneth Walker III, who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, has agreed to a three-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs worth up to $45 million, including $28.7 million guaranteed. This move comes after Walker’s impressive performance in the previous season, where he was named the Super Bowl MVP for Super Bowl LX.
During the 2025 regular season, Walker recorded 1,027 rushing yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.4 yards per carry. His career with the Seahawks saw him score a total of 31 touchdowns, making him a significant asset to any team. In the postseason, Walker contributed with 417 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns, including a standout 161-yard performance in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.
The Chiefs, who ranked 25th in rushing yards last season and had a disappointing 6-11 record, are looking to bolster their running game. Kareem Hunt led the team with only 611 rushing yards, highlighting the need for a player like Walker. Coach Andy Reid expressed the team’s desire for more explosive plays, stating, “Somewhere, you’d like to have a few bigger plays in that area.” Walker’s addition is seen as a solution to this issue.
Walker confirmed the news of his signing on social media, sharing a photoshop image of himself in a Kansas City uniform. His transition from the Seahawks to the Chiefs marks a significant shift, as he joins another title-winning team.
In addition to Walker’s arrival, the Chiefs are facing uncertainties regarding the status of quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the start of the season. Details remain unconfirmed. Meanwhile, Zach Charbonnet, another key player, has torn his ACL during the playoffs and may miss half the upcoming season, further emphasizing the importance of Walker’s signing.
As the Chiefs prepare for the next season, Walker’s big-play ability is expected to make a considerable impact on their offensive strategy. Observers anticipate that his skills will help revitalize a struggling rushing attack and provide the Chiefs with the dynamic playmaking they have been lacking.
