JOHN Lewis has launched a wave of early-bird Black Friday discounts and there’s an absolute gem of a smartwatch deal available.
Shoppers can pick up the premium Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro for £399: that’s £100 less than usual.

The biggest sales day of the year isn’t until the end of the month, but anybody with deals on their radar needn’t wait until then.
At the beginning of November, John Lewis launched a wave of early-bird Black Friday discounts on a range of appliances and tech products, with major brands like Samsung making an appearance.
It was back in 2022 that the Galaxy Watch 5 range hit the market.

The standard model in the line has since been succeeded by the Watch 6, but interestingly, no new Pro model has been released.
Make no mistake: the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is a formidable piece of Android tech and one that’s a very credible rival to premium equivalents from Apple.
To see how either brand’s wearables compare to one another, read our Apple Watch vs Samsung Watch explainer.
If you’re in search of what they call a ‘true smartwatch’ (a wearable that isn’t just for fitness tracking, but everyday use) then this limited-time deal is well worth a look.

Keep in mind, too, that this is the Pro model in the range: bigger, cased in rugged titanium, and with a much longer battery life.
It offers a comprehensive range of fitness metrics. The Watch 5 Pro will monitor your heart rate and rhythm, your sleep cycles, your blood oxygen, blood pressure and body composition.
There’s also an expansive range of workout companion modes too. Outdoor runners, in particular, will appreciate certain features that’s only available in the Pro mode: it’s got a ‘Track Back’ navigational feature that will help you find your way home should you take an unfamiliar route.
It’s also a great device for workout sessions in the gym too: after any intense cardio, the Watch 5 Pro will track your heart rate recovery and gauge how well you recover. It will even let you know how much you should re-hydrate.
The Pro is an exceptional choice for people who favour bulkier wearables: it’s got a 45mm face, whereas the standard Watch 5 is only available in 40mm and 44mm sizes.
Perhaps its most notable feature is the hugely increased battery life: by contract to the standard Watch 5’s 410mAh capacity, its 572mAh battery is advertised to last for 80 hours.
On top of that, the Watch 5 Pro supports faster charging speeds, thanks to its USB-C – perfect if (like us) you’re the type who always forget to plug in their devices before going to bed at night.
In pure looks it’s seriously eye-catching too, with a crisp, 1.36-inch AMOLED display and an intuitive user interface that’s widely considered to be one of the best in the industry.
The WearOS ecosystem features tech not just built by Samsung but Google too: you can use this smartwatch to download apps like Spotify, and you can also take and receive calls too.
You can pick it up in two different colours: Gray Titanium and Black Titanium.
It’s earned an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 on the John Lewis website, with one buyer describing it as a wearable with ‘superb looks, feel and performance.’
He goes on to add: ‘An impressive watch with presence and performance in equal measure … finally, a watch that properly interacts with my phone. I’ve had it for a few weeks and haven’t found anything yet to disappoint me.’
At full price, going Pro might have been beyond many shoppers’ budgets, but after a £100 discount this smartwatch is looking a whole lot affordable.
John Lewis offers a two-year warranty period, as well as a tech cycle scheme that lets you bring any old items smaller than 25cm into the store, after which they’ll be safely and responsibly recycled.
The store offers free delivery on orders of £50 – so with this stylish smartwatch, you're covered.
To avoid that upfront spend, you can also spread the cost across a 24- or 36-month period.*
