Michelle Heaton struggling to see after horror Celeb SAS swamp eye injury

Michelle Heaton has shown off a horrific injury she sustained whilst filming that has left her struggling to see to this day.

Heaton, 44, uploaded a shocking snap of her swollen face with a terribly bloodshot eye which she developed from her time on Channel 4's Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The swollen eye went on to become an infection known as "swamp eye".

The Liberty X singer explained that she had managed to catch the bacteria as a result of the "extremely dirty water" that she immersed herself in the jungle. She also added that poor living conditions did not help her recovery.

Captioning the photo that she uploaded to her social media, she began in all caps: "TRIGGER WARNING!!". She continued: "A year ago after returning from SAS: Who Dares Wins, parasites found in extreme dirty water from the jungle, decided to return in my eye with me.

"They lived in there & found their new home for over 3 months. Unable to see properly," she admitted. "To this day my vision is still slightly blurred in my right eye."

Michelle then added that after having thrown herself into the jungle for the hardcore reality series, she went straight into ITV's Dancing On Ice. She confessed that whilst she was training, she was forced to wear a patch until the live shows, when the illness subsided.

She encouraged fans to watch her on Channel 4 "to see if it was all worth it". But fans were quick to take to the comments section to express their horror at how it had affected the singer's face.

Impressionist Francine Lewis wrote: "Omg that's so scary. Wow, you're so brave! SAS and Dancing on Ice are two of the most dangerous shows. Well done." Apprentice star Luisa Zissman also showered her in praise, commenting: "Gosh you poor thing!! That show has so many lasting injuries that come with it, great to watch though."

Whilst a fan of the singer said: "Oh Michelle. I can’t wait to watch tonight! I know you will be on stage when it’s starts but I’m sure you will catch it when your home or even tomorrow! So proud of you! We got this always."

Michelle forms part of the line-up on the newest series of the show, which also includes former Health Secretary Matt Hancock and TOWIE star James 'Arg' Argent.

Speaking ahead of going into the show last year, Michelle confessed she was on the verge of death due to drinking and taking cocaine daily for three years. She explained: "This is a really good time for me to show people how far I have come on my journey and where I am right now."
