PECO has reported over 470 outages affecting more than 16,000 customers in the Philadelphia area following storms that swept through the region on March 16, 2026. Thousands of residents spent the night without electricity as crews worked to restore power.

In response to the outages, PECO’s new centralized dispatch center, located in Brighton, Colorado, is expected to enhance service efficiency. The facility, which consolidates three locations into one, boasts 52,000 square feet of space and features 13 double service bays, a heated indoor wash bay, and a team of 45 technicians dedicated to managing service requests.

Marc Dowdell, a representative from PECO, emphasized the importance of the new facility, stating, “The real investment is in what you don’t immediately see – the centralized dispatch, the Kardex systems and the larger bays with 10-ton overhead cranes.” This infrastructure aims to improve response times and service reliability for customers in the Philadelphia area.

PECO’s recent operational upgrades come at a time when the company is focused on enhancing its service capabilities. The Philadelphia area has experienced significant weather-related disruptions in the past, making such improvements critical for maintaining customer satisfaction.

In addition to the outages, Phillips Edison & Company, Inc. has been in the news as Jain Global LLC recently trimmed its position in the company by 21.3%. Phillips Edison has a market cap of $4.81 billion and reported earnings per share of $0.38 for the quarter, missing estimates by $0.28.

As PECO works to restore power to affected customers, the company is also looking to leverage its new facility to better manage future challenges. “We can see where every truck is, what every tech is working on and what jobs are coming next,” Dowdell added, highlighting the advantages of the centralized system.

While PECO focuses on recovery efforts, the impact of the storms on the local community continues to be felt. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of the damage and the timeline for complete restoration of service.
