Rachaad White has officially signed a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders, as announced on March 12, 2026. This move marks a significant transition for the running back, who previously played four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
During his time with the Buccaneers, White established himself as a reliable player, accumulating a total of 4,106 yards from scrimmage. He has recorded 205 catches for 1,450 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns since entering the league as a third-round pick in 2022.
In the 2025 season, White averaged 4.3 yards per carry, finishing with 572 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 132 carries. Notably, he was the Buccaneers’ lead running back during the 2023 season, where he had his best performance with 990 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
White’s signing with the Commanders reunites him with his former college quarterback, Jayden Daniels, with whom he played for two years at Arizona State. This connection could potentially enhance the team’s offensive strategy.
As the 11th running back to sign a deal in free agency this offseason, White was ranked as the No. 4 free-agent running back in The Athletic’s top 150. His consistent performance, including never having fewer than 40 receptions in a season, underscores his value in the league.
