Snoqualmie Pass Traffic Conditions Update
As of March 11, 2026, traffic on Snoqualmie Pass is severely congested due to snow and slush on the roadway, resulting in multiple crashes. The situation has prompted authorities to advise drivers to use traction tires while traversing the pass.
Westbound lanes of I-90 have reopened after being closed at Easton, while eastbound traffic was initially halted at North Bend. The closure affected a stretch of approximately 40 miles between North Bend and Easton, creating significant delays for travelers.
At around 2:30 p.m., several semi-trucks spun out, contributing to the hazardous conditions. Eastbound traffic was allowed to resume by 3 p.m. on the same day, but no estimated reopening time has been provided for westbound traffic at Easton.
In addition to the traffic issues on Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 Stevens Pass was also closed for several hours but has since reopened. Drivers heading over Stevens Pass are required to carry chains due to the winter weather conditions.
A Blizzard Warning is set to take effect for the Washington Cascades from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday, raising concerns about further deterioration of road conditions. This warning highlights the potential for heavy snowfall and strong winds, which could exacerbate the already challenging driving environment.
Officials have stated, “Even when crews respond quickly, clearing collisions and making the roadway safe again can take time, especially if multiple vehicles are involved or if heavy snow is falling.” This underscores the importance of exercising caution and preparedness when traveling in these conditions.
Travelers are urged to consider delaying their trips until conditions improve and the pass reopens. The safest option may simply be to wait until the weather clears and road conditions are deemed safe for travel.
Snoqualmie Pass is known for its winter weather creating dangerous driving conditions, and this incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by drivers in the region during this time of year.
