New ‘Nickel City’ Uniforms Unveiled
The Buffalo Bills have introduced their new “Nickel City” alternate uniforms, which include an all-gray pant and jersey combination. This new uniform set also features “The Charge” helmet, characterized by an all-blue base accented with the team’s iconic red charge. The “Nickel City” theme draws inspiration from the Buffalo Nickel, with the all-gray design reflecting this historical reference. Visual elements for the uniform were inspired by the region’s steel mills, grain elevators, and rail yards, which are significant to Buffalo’s historical development. The uniforms also serve as a tribute to the blue-collar workers who contributed to the construction of the team’s new home, Highmark Stadium.
Design Details and Inspiration
A prominent feature of the new uniform is the royal blue “Charge” helmet. This design brings the Charging Buffalo emblem to life, with its signature horn, eye, and charge streak prominently displayed on a royal blue shell. The helmet incorporates a metallic flake finish and additional metallic blue flake accents, aiming to convey a sense of energy, strength, and attack.
La Porta described the new helmet as a bold representation for what he termed a “bold new era” in Buffalo Bills football. The design process for these alternate uniforms spanned eight months and involved various stages, including the selection of fabric colors, helmet paint finishes, and broadcast television tests. The team is set to usher in this “Nickel City” era starting with the 2026 season.
The Bills are permitted by the NFL to wear these alternate uniforms for both home and away games. However, the team has not yet specified which particular game will mark the debut of the new uniforms. La Porta and the Bills design team previously collaborated on the “Cold Front” Rivalries jerseys, which were first introduced in 2025.

The introduction of the new alternate uniforms is one of several changes for the Buffalo organization. The team is also preparing for its inaugural season at the new Highmark Stadium, with construction of the facility having been completed earlier this offseason.
